Water Lily

It was bound to happen.  I bought this yarn for the blanket I’m working on – but of course I got distracted.

I’ve been looking for a good water lily pattern for a while, and whilst I’ve seen a few most of them require sewing several layers together.  Also, most water lilies I have seen have 8 petals around – but most of the patterns out there use 6 petal repeats.   A minor detail I know, but it’s nice to be accurate!

You can use these for whatever you like really.  I’m thinking of making a few more and then displaying on mirrored glass along with leaves as a centrepiece for a table.  Or adding a few rows to turn it into squares for a cushion…

Crochet Rope Basket

Make My Day Creative

Customisable Crochet Basket Customisable Crochet Basket

I’ve been looking for a basket of specific dimensions for a while without any luck.  Then I saw a circular version of this idea and realised I could make my own!

This uses a technique similar to thrumming, where you crochet over another thread to add bulk to a fabric.  If you have ever crocheted over your ends to avoid weaving in, this works the same way.

In this case I used rope instead of another yarn, which is a lot bulkier but great for adding stiffness and making each row deeper.  This project had the added bonus of using up a single skein I had left in my stash!

The resulting basket is rectangular with rounded corners.

You will need:

  • Length of rope (mine was 38m in length and 6mm diameter, for a 22x42x17cm basket)
  • Stash yarn (I used 310m of Patons 100% cotton 4ply in…

Cuscinetto uncinetto con mughetti alla lavanda !!!

ricreAnna - Creazioni all'uncinetto

Wise Guys

Your Everyday Heirlooms

I love owls and wanted a quick project as a break from a baby blanket that wouldn’t end. I couldn’t find quite what I wanted so I came up with this guy. A quick, simple project for sure. I like to wear him like a brooch to fancy up my work uniform. He would be great on a hat or ear warmer too.

You will need: worsted weight yarn in the main color, white, and yellow. 2 safety eyes, a small circle of felt, and a pin back. Obviously if you are making an aplique with him you won’t need the felt or pin.

I used worsted weight Hobby Lobby I Love this yarn and a size G 4.25 mm hook.

Using yiur main color chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to make a circle.
